Nesian Gummas | Team Bonding Weekend – Minjerribah (Stradbroke Island)

Over the weekend of 10–11 January 2026, Nesian Gummas proudly held our first-ever Team Bonding Overnight, coming together on the beautiful lands of Minjerribah (Stradbroke Island). This special weekend marked an important milestone in our journey as a team, deeply grounded in our core values of culture, sisterhood, respect, learning, pride and unity.

The overnight was designed to strengthen team cohesion and connection, allowing our players to spend quality time learning more about one another both on and off the field. Central to the experience was the opportunity to learn and listen to ancient cultural knowledge from the Quandamooka and Moorgumpin people, the Traditional Custodians who have called Minjerribah home for centuries. This learning reinforced our belief that understanding and respecting culture is essential to growth, identity and leadership.

Across the two days, players took part in a range of team-building activities facilitated by Nesian Gummas Support Staff, encouraging open communication, trust and reflection. These sessions included both personal and collective reflections, giving players insight into their individual and team goals, aspirations and the pathway ahead — Las Vegas and beyond.

Moments of connection continued off the field, with scenic BBQ meals overlooking Moreton Bay, where the team was fortunate to catch glimpses of dolphin pods moving through the waters — a reminder of the beauty, calm and grounding power of Country. The team also has an opportunity to meet our new corporate sponsors WRL Shipping Pty Ltd & Heart To Harvest who treated us to a fantastic catered lunch (courtesy of Heart to Harvest catering services).

The weekend also featured two training sessions at the Dunwich footy grounds, where our presence drew curious and excited attention from locals, young and old. It was heartening to see the community eager to learn about Nesian Gummas and welcoming our use of their facilities on the island.

For our young women, the experience highlighted how culture, passion and pride can carve pathways and create opportunities in life. From travelling on a vehicle ferry, to experiencing Minjerribah for the first time, to learning about ancient cultures — this weekend was about stepping into new spaces with confidence and gratitude.

Nesian Gummas Management are incredibly humble and grateful for the dedication and tireless work of our Support Staff, whose efforts before and throughout the weekend ensured its success.

Most importantly, none of this would have been possible without the ongoing support of our Major Sponsor Brendale Brewing Company, and Corporate Sponsors WRL Shipping Pty Ltd & Heart to Harvest. Their belief in our vision continues to help build Nesian Gummas and create meaningful opportunities where young dreams can become reality.

We leave Minjerribah stronger, more connected and inspired — carrying our values forward as one sisterhood.
